Activate, test, and troubleshoot your WiFi

The Xfinity app is a free and user-friendly way to connect to an xFi Gateway or an authorized modem or router and set up your home network without the assistance of a technician. Its various features, such as speed checking, troubleshooting, and more, can help you improve your internet connection.

You can check the status of your network, view your plan details, and even pay your bill. You will also get Xfinity Assistant, which includes 24/7 real-time assistance and support right from the app. Before proceeding, check the bottom of your Gateway to determine the model you own.

What gateways work with Xfinity?

The Xfinity app is compliant with the majority of Comcast's xFi Gateways. The Xfinity smartphone app would not be able to connect to an xFi Fiber Gateway (Arris X5001); the Arris X5001 can only be installed by a licensed Xfinity technician. The following features are available through the Xfinity app, but it is only for consumers who have such xFi Gateways

First, sign in with your Xfinity ID if you don't already have one, and you'll be asked to activate your account. If you aren't asked to enable after logging into the Xfinity app, go to the Account icon in the top-left corner of the Overview tab and click Activate xFi Gateway or Modem under the Devices tab.

Xfinity helps you to measure the speed of your xFi Gateway and your Xfinity Internet. Click the Connect tab in the Xfinity app, then the Internet Health icon. Here, you will be asked to test the speed to the gateway and the speed to the unit you're using to use xFi.

Handy app for Xfinity subscribers

With the Xfinity app, you can view all wireless devices on your network, including offline devices, and edit WiFi settings without having to connect via the internet or a computer. If you're using cellular data, you can also reset the router using the app. You may also adjust the logical names of your devices and check data consumption at certain hours. Overall, for Xfinity users, it's a much-needed app.

Softonic

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
